Artists for Santa

The Founding 100 โ€” one artist, one creation, one Christmas at a time. ๐ŸŽ

The Great Christmas Project is inviting 100 extraordinary artists to become our inaugural Founding 100. Each contributes one original work that becomes beautiful Christmas products and collectibles โ€” the artists bring the creativity, our partners bring the products to life, and the proceeds bring Christmas to children.

Artist Questions

Before You Say Yes: Plain Answers

Artists for Santa is part of The Great Christmas Project. Here's exactly what we ask for, what you keep, and how it works.

Who is behind Artists for Santa?

Artists for Santa is part of The Great Christmas Project, our parent organization. Your permission goes to The Great Christmas Project.

What permission am I giving?

Permission to use one design, the one piece you send us. It's a limited Christmas license, written on one page in plain English.

That one design may be used only on:

  • Fine holiday stationery
  • Greeting cards
  • Gift tags
  • Printables

It is not permission to use your other work. It is not permission to use this design outside Christmas products. This is not a rights grab.

Do I keep my original and my copyright?

Yes. You keep 100% of your copyright and ownership, and your original stays with you. We never ask you to give up a physical original. This is not a sale of your art and not an all-rights transfer. We only need a high-resolution digital file of the one design.

Can you use my work forever?

No. It's a limited license for this Christmas season only. It doesn't last forever, and you keep your original and your copyright.

It covers one design, for Christmas products only. It doesn't extend to anything else you've made. If you're ever invited back for a future Christmas collection, that would be a completely new written agreement. Nothing beyond this collection is assumed.

Who approves what gets made?

You do. Nothing is printed, published, or sold without your review and approval first.

Before your artwork is printed, published, promoted, or sold, we share the proposed product and promotional layouts with you, credit included. We don't "fix" your art. We want you to feel proud of every place your work appears.

What credit do I get?

You're credited as a Founding Artist, using the credit line exactly as you give it to us. Your Founding Artist square shows your name, headshot, and website, plus only the social links you choose. When a product is made from your design, your square links to it.

What file do you need?
  • The best file you have: PSD, TIFF, PNG, PDF, AI, or a large JPG
  • Aim for about 300 dpi at 8 ร— 10 inches or larger
  • A phone photo of a painting is fine to start with
What happens after I say yes?

It's three simple steps:

  • Send your piece. Reply with the one piece you'd be proud to share, or a short list, and we'll choose one together.
  • Review and sign. Once we have your piece, we'll send our one-page limited Christmas license through DocuSign for you to review and sign. Nothing moves forward until you've reviewed and approved it.
  • Share your details. We'll collect the final high-resolution file, your credit line, a headshot if you'd like, and the website and social links you want shared.

Sending us your artwork doesn't mean you've agreed to anything. There's no pressure, and you're welcome to ask questions at any point.

How does the money reach children?

100% of the proceeds from these Christmas products go to clearing real Christmas wish lists for children in need. We don't keep a single penny. Our operating costs are privately funded, so every sale goes to kids.
